RMGA Membership Meeting Review

Food Tours

October 14, 2019 RMGA Membership Meeting

Networking, short business meeting led by President, Sherry Moon. Sherry introduced two members as Colorado Certified Members:  Dutch Hodges and Susan Burrows both successfully passed the Certification test and are now Certified Tour Guides. Larry Foos, Membership Chair, presented Dutch and Susan with their new RMGA name badges with the “RMGA Colorado Certified” designation.

Mike Pearl, Director at Large and Chair of the Nominations Committee, presented the slate of nominees for RMGA Officers for 2020:

Sherry Moon, President
Ethan Magusin, Vice President
Nancy Brueggeman, Secretary
Wendy Pickering, Treasurer
Mike Pearl, Director at Large

Election of officers will occur at the November Annual Membership Meeting.

Larry Foos (Program Committee) introduced Ethan Magusin of Denver Food Tours.

Ethan began his presentation by distributing donuts for us to taste. Those donuts came from Morning Jones, one of the stalls in The Denver Milk Market. Here’s the link: https://www.denvermilkmarket.com. Next, he distributed a printed version of his notes, which is attached to this report. Ethan informed us that food tourism contextualizes the location for visitors and allows visitors to live – or in this case eat – like a local. Ethan suggested that Guides leading food tours should have experience in the food service industry.
